Strengthen Software Supply Chain Security
Build a trusted software supply chain with SBOM and stage-by-stage security testing
Can you really trust the SBOM your vendor delivered?
Software operators can use the SBOM (Software Bill of Materials) provided by their suppliers to manage software risk. However, if an SBOM is tampered with or forged in transit, information about software components can be distorted and vulnerability management may break down. To prevent this, the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) published the ‘SBOM Sharing Primer’ to outline how to share SBOMs securely, and as SBOM requirements expand worldwide, ensuring SBOM confidentiality and integrity is drawing growing attention.
Ensuring software transparency and building a secure supply chain requires security measures that go beyond simply providing an SBOM. Digital signatures should be used to guarantee SBOM integrity, and delivery should be protected through a trusted platform. This lets operators verify the integrity and trustworthiness of the software they receive and build a more effective security management framework based on trust with their suppliers.
How do you check whether the software you receive has vulnerabilities?
Preventing software supply chain attacks requires a systematic process that continuously identifies and addresses software vulnerabilities, from adoption through operation and maintenance. However, many operators run security checks only when they first adopt software and, lacking resources and time, do not keep checking afterward.
When adopting software, operators should verify that the developer followed secure coding practices and confirm, through automated security testing at the build stage, that vulnerabilities were removed before release. They should also require SBOM submission to gain a clear view of software components, monitor vulnerabilities continuously, and ask the developer to fix any vulnerability as soon as it is found.
How can you ensure your software is secure?
Following the release of U.S. Executive Order 14028, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recommends integrating automated security testing tools throughout the development process and using SBOMs for continuous management and monitoring to strengthen software supply chain security. CISA’s ‘Secure by Design’ Pledge calls for minimizing vulnerabilities before software is released, and the EU Cyber Resilience Act requires manufacturers to identify and document software components, including by drawing up an SBOM.
Developers therefore need to consider security from the design stage, follow secure coding practices, and use a range of security testing tools to keep their software safe.
Going further, generating SBOMs at each stage of the software development lifecycle to review the list of components makes it possible to identify risks early.
Sparrow's Strategy for Software Supply Chain Security
Sparrow's Strategy for Software Supply Chain Security
Build Mutual Trust by Enriching, Attesting, and Sharing SBOMs
Sparrow uses Sigstore Cosign-based digital signatures to clearly verify the creator and integrity of each SBOM, delivering a ‘verifiable SBOM’ rather than just a document. Through Sparrow SecureHub, it also provides a secure way to share SBOMs and manage them systematically, setting a new standard for trusted software supply chain management.
Automate SBOM Analysis and Testing for Sustainable Software Security
SBOM analysis and comparison features identify software components and lay the foundation for vulnerability management. When needed, source code analysis, web vulnerability analysis, and open source analysis help you quickly identify and respond to potential security threats. CI/CD pipeline integration and scheduled analysis automate security checks, and open source vulnerability information is updated in real time from Korean and international vulnerability databases, keeping your software secure over time.
Secure Your Software with Stage-by-Stage Vulnerability Checks
Run source code analysis in the development stage and web vulnerability analysis in the testing and operation stages, then generate result reports to deliver to operators. For open source, generating SBOMs at the design, development, build, and deployment stages identifies risks and clearly tracks build history, increasing the trustworthiness of your software.
